This large polychrome vessel by Rosalia Medina Toribio exemplifies the continuation of classic Zia pottery motifs, including the encircled large birds with small heads. Matte painted pottery such as this is made with a Southwest slip-and-painting technique that has lasted centuries and is still used by contemporary Pueblo potters.
