This dark brown polychrome serving bowl, with its red interior, was used for special or ceremonial occasions by people associated with Diaguita culture, which flourished in Argentina and Chile before succumbing to the Inka Empire in the 1400s. Diaguita mastered pottery and conducted agriculture in maize, beans, pumpkins, and peppers. The bowl itself dates to between AD 950 and 1450.
