"The story goes: My father and his cousin walked into the diner in Tama, Iowa. Tama is located just outside the Mesquakie settlement. They sat at a booth and waited for the waitress to serve them. After several minutes the waitress approached their table and says: 'We don't serve Indians!' My father's cousin just looks at the waitress and says very sharply, 'We don't want Indians!' He says, 'We want cheeseburgers!'"
