"Two years ago my husband and I took a trip
across the United States from New York to Los Angeles. During that 6,000
mile journey (round trip) we stopped at numerous gas stations and curio
shops. What I discovered were a variety of Indian toys and images of
the 'Indian' for sale. These were the same toys I remember seeing as
a young child along the Turquoise Trail (Route 66) and it is these toys
that young people today view as the Native American. Since that point
I started 'collecting' these images."
