Female Lakota DollLittle Indian girls used these dolls to play with. The father usually made them. In different areas of the world their mothers and grandmothers make some of them. Most dolls are made of wood; they can be a solid doll or have movable arms and legs. The doll's beaded dress is made of buckskin and sewn with sinew. Buffalo calf hair is used for the hair on the head. This Sioux doll was probably played with over a hundred years ago as part of a play camp. Little girls also had toy cradle boards and tipi as doll accessories. Some girls had whole camps if they had all their own accessories. |
