Chehalis Carved Sheep Horn Bowl These are Columbia River bowls. They are square cut with raised ends
and often use geometric designs: triangles, zig-zags, and parallel
lines as surface decoration. This bowl has a human face in a distinctive
style. The brow is straight, with a thin nose and a stepped-back chin.
The bowl is from western Washington, on the banks of the Chehalis River.
Sheephorn was traded with the Haida people. |
