Focusing on the Qhapaq ñan, the magnificent road network developed by the Inka more than five hundred years ago, this symposium features illustrated lectures by noted scholars Gary Urton (USA), Roberto Bárcena (Argentina), Mónica Bolaños (Ecuador), Victoria Castro (Chile), Mauricio Uribe (Chile), Alexei Vranich (USA), José Berenguer (Chile), Sergio Martin (Argentina), Christian Vitry (Argentina), Edmundo de la Vega (Perú), José María López Bejarano (Bolivia), José Pino (Perú), and Donato Amado (Perú). Traducción simultánea ~ simultaneous Spanish/English interpretation. Co-sponsored by the Inter-American Development Bank Cultural Center.

Qulliq/Oil Lamp (1992, 12 min.) CANADA. Director: Susan Avigaq (Inuit), Madeline Ivalu (Inuit), Mathilda Hanniliqq (Inuit), Martha Maktar (Inuit), Marie-Helene Cousineau. Inuit of northern Quebec recreate times past, including the building of an ice house, women using a seal oil lamp, and other home–based activities.

If the Weather Permits (2003, 28 min.) CANADA. Director: Elisapie Isaac (Inuit). Produced by the National Film Board of Canada. A young, city–based Inuit filmmaker returns to her roots, pondering the relationship between the Inuit past and the future in today's world. In interviews with her extraordinary grandfather and with young people of the community, she finds, perhaps, more questions than answers.
